Self Care (Part 3): Eat Well

Eating well is to the body as gas is to the car, you must put the right amount, right grade, etc.and you surely do not run on empty. You can go ahead and put the wrong type of gas in your car, it just might run, but it won’t run for long, may not run far, and you might just damage your engine. Proper nutrition affects every single aspect of our lives - moods included. Did you know you can take care of simple mood (notice I said simple) shifts by eating the proper things and being well nourished? There are changes to your medical challenges you can put in motion if you eat right in addition to exercising. There is a whole section on the science of proper nutrition and mental health. If you find that eating whole foods and eating right is challenging, I would suggest meal prepping and planning ahead of time. Being intentional about the things we put into our body will require that we plan and stick to it as much as possible. Eating well doesn’t just happen, it is intentional, and requires dedication. Proper nutrition is as important as the very air we breathe!!! Take care of yourself!!!
