Be Kind

Kindness should be a standard, but I find that we tend to be too focused on what we want, when we want it, and how we want it to consider others, and it ought not to be so.

The world we live in today has increasingly become more toxic than ever and therefore, it is more important than ever to be kind. Let your interactions be sweet and savory, let your words go down well like a cool glass of water or sweet tea on a hot summer day. Don’t let them leave people disgusted, torn down, or triggered. You never know what someone else is going through, and you may very well be the only person that will be kind to them that day.

And I know what you’re thinking, “I’m not responsible for other people’s life and choices”, and you’re right, but you are responsible for yours, and you can choose to contribute positively to others, versus taking from them. See, the thing is that most often, one can only think about being kind if they themselves are healed and whole. So, I guess the only thing to do is to ask yourself if you are healed and whole, and if so, you have no excuse to not be kind. If you are not, get to getting, and be healed and whole, not being whole is still not an excuse to not be kind. It is good practice to tell remind yourself every morning (and throughout the day as needed)…

“I will be mindful of my words and actions today”,

…and actively seek out to be kind to others, and at the end of every day, ask yourself…

“Was I kind today?”

“Were there any areas I could’ve shown kindness today?”
