Thank You
I want to give you a brief task to do, ready, ok, close your eyes – think back to the last couple of times you received a compliment. What was your instant response? What was your answer? Did you say “thank you”, or did you find yourself offering an explanation, giving a disclaimer, or devaluing yourself? That “humility” – notice it’s in quotes – we call ourselves giving off has got to go! Please understand, I’m not saying you are waiting on someone to validate you, what I am saying is know your value, know your worth, acknowledge the effort you put in, if you can’t say anything else, just say “thank you”, or “I know” lol. You saying thank you is you accepting what you know to be true, that is if you do know it to be true (if you don’t, see me for a session or two). Do you give yourself compliments, do you look in the mirror and say “girl! You look good tuh-day!”, do you? If not, you should start practicing that….daily. I am leaving with this homework, instead of looking at yourself and seeing all the things that are wrong, start looking for all that is right. EVERYDAY! Internally and externally! Start loving yourself! It is weird at first, but practice makes progress, so get to it! Know who you are and Whose you are, know how your Heavenly Father sees you, and start seeing and speaking to yourself as such. It will transform your life, and you will start saying “thank you” when you receive a compliment, and if you don’t receive compliments, it won’t matter, because you compliment yourself and Heaven is pleased with you….oh yea, don’t forget to compliment others either.
