Self Care (Part 6): Rest

Rest, that simple 4 letter word that seems so elusive! We are constantly on the go, even while eating or drinking, and this is so terrible, but alas, it is the world we live in, so we must be intentional about rest. I have found that most of us are of the mindset that we need to have this huge chunk of time and so therefore if we don’t have it, then we can’t rest. Let me challenge that thought today, can you take 5-10 mins at a time, and then half an hour as you build up? Take that time to breathe, color, drink water, eat, relax, take a power nap, read a book, just sit and do nothing! Rest is something God intended for us to do and gives to us, it is up to us to take advantage of and use it. You will find that if you rest, some of those things you are anxious about will not be as bad as you think they are. If you don’t invest in yourself, if you are running on empty, how much are you really giving/doing/helping? How can you really be of use to others? Rest!
